Drum Lessons

If you're looking to learn to play drums, you have come to the right place! We love drums and have some great instructors on staff that will help you on your journey.  Here are some of the most commonly asked questions about learning to play drums:

  1. Do I need a drum kit at home to take lessons?
    1. You don't need a drum kit to get started. You can begin with a practice pad, or a single drum to practice technique one. You can also rent an electronic or traditional drum kit from us at very reasonable rates. Or take advantage of our free practice pad that we give to any new drum student who needs it!
  3. How long does it take to learn to play drums?

    1. There is no set answer of how long it takes to learn an instrument. With regular practice a basic level of playing can be accomplished in a few months. Most of our students take lessons on a long term basis because they want to be constantly improving and they find the lessons enjoyable.

  5. How often should I practice?
    1. Developing good practice habits is very important in developing skill. The main objective is to be consistent. Practicing a little each day is better than skipping a few days and then practicing several hours trying to catch up.
  7. Do I need to learn to read music?
    1. Drum music is a little different than other instruments because you don't have to learn notes, scale or chords. You will learn to read rhythms, which is very important. 
  9. How old should you be to learn drums?
    1. Almost any age! It's never too late to start. As far as kids go, we recommend starting at 8 or so. Before that they may not be able to reach drums or bass pedal, and they may not have the attention span needed. 
  11. How much do drum lessons cost?
    1. Drum lessons are $159 per month, for a private, 30 minute lesson every week. No extra charge for months that have a 5th week.  Addtional students from the same household (siblings, parents, grandparents) pay only $149 per month!
