Summer Lessons Info
We know some families take vacations and have other scheduling changes over the summer, so we've prepared this guide to answer your questions pertaining to your music lessons at The Laboratory. These options should cover most scenarios:
IF YOU ARE STAYING IN LESSONS
If you would like to keep your current lesson time, and do not anticipate needing to change lesson times, you don’t need to do anything. If you plan on keeping your lesson time, but will be away for a few weeks during June, July, or August, please cancel that lesson through the student portal after you have paid that month’s tuition and you’ll get credits to reschedule them. We also allow 2 extra makeup credits for cancellations over the summer (from the normal 2 allowed at a time to 4). If your schedule needs to change in September, you will get priority for your needs.
IF YOU ARE STAYING FOR THE SUMMER BUT NEED A NEW TIME
Please let us know that you are staying but need a new time before as early as possible so that we can do our best to find a time that will work for you. If you know you will be away for a few weeks during June, July, or August, please cancel that lesson through the student portal after you have paid that month’s tuition and you’ll get credits to reschedule them. We also allow 2 extra makeup credits for cancellations over the summer (from the normal 2 allowed at a time to 4). If your schedule needs to change again in September, you will get priority for your needs.
IF YOU ARE TAKING A BREAK BUT WOULD LIKE TO COME BACK TO YOUR CURRENT TIME IN THE FALL
Let us know by the 15th of the month before. We will charge you half of your current tuition price for the months you will miss to hold your time. That tuition will not be applied to future lessons or classes. Holds are only available for whole months- if you will only miss a week or a part of a month, please use one of the options above. Putting your lessons on hold will exempt you from any tuition increases for new students that may be updated in the fall, and you will be exempt from the returning student registration fee.
Anyone who holds their time and ends up having an unexpected need to change the schedule will be prioritized along with current students to reschedule.
IF YOU ARE TAKING A BREAK BUT ARE NOT SURE WHAT NEXT YEAR’S SCHEDULE MIGHT BRING
Please let us know that you will be out for the summer no later than the 15th of the month prior to when you wish to stop lessons as we submit our billing info to our payment provider at that time. Returning students are encouraged to contact us to re-enroll as soon as your fall schedule is known. We’ve been growing and lesson times with some teachers are hard to get. You will be considered a new student, and will have to pay the returning student registration fee (currently $25) and any new tuition rates for applied new students that begin in the fall. When scheduling fall lessons, payment for September is due at the time of scheduling, not September 1st. Lesson times will not be held until payment has been successfully submitted.
NO LESSONS OR BILLING WILL BE STOPPED FOR SUMMER BREAKS UNLESS YOU COMPLETE THE CANCELLATION FORM HERE BY THE 15TH OF THE MONTH PRIOR TO THE BREAK.
